HIS STORY

We met the smiling, jovial, big hearted Arturo a couple of years ago. He reached out to us on Facebook if you can believe it! Arturo Sandoval always wanted to continue his father’s dream of growing coffee. Now they do it together on this small, beautiful farm outside of Cosautlán de Carvajal, Veracruz, Mexico. This microlot follows a classic washed process. It is one of Arturo’s favorite varieties, Garnica, which was developed in Mexico more than 50 years ago.

ON THE MAP

Los Amigos is located just outside of Cosautlán de Carvajal in Veracruz, Mexico. Sitting on 3 hectares, or a little over 7 acres, the small farm produces some of the best Garnica variety coffee we have ever cupped.

THE FARM

The incredible flavors that he cultivates on his small, 7 acre farm in Veracruz are intense. Los Amigos is a particular variety known as Garnica. The Garnica variety is one of the only three Mexican varieties and was harvested on Arturo’s small farm in Veracruz. It is as a washed coffee with a clean and bright acidity showing notes of lime, guava and hops. It was not just the quality of his beans that moved us. Arturo is a kind-hearted, affable person, and the passion that he puts into harvesting coffee and caring for his family have been an inspiration to us.
