HIS STORY

Daye Bensa is a family farm, founded by brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamoin 2006, their labor sourced from the surrounding villages (with an emphasis and support for women  workers). A certified organic farm, Daye Bensa continues to focus on sustainability and giving back to their community of growers. They also won 7th place in the 2020 Cup of Excellence.

ON THE MAP

A large area in the fertile highlands in the Rift Valley, Sidamo is one of three trademarked coffee regions in Ethiopia (along with Harrar and Yirgacheffe). It’s 1,550 to 2,200 m.a.s.l and has ample rainfall, optimum temperatures, and fertile soil. Sidamo coffees are known for their rich, full body, vibrant crisp acidity, and floral and citrus notes.

THE FARM

Daye Bensa is a foundational coffee for us at Greenway. We have been working with the Dukamo family, who operate the production of this coffee in the Bensa region of Sidamo for the last 4 years and are committed to purchasing through them for the foreseeable future. Bensa is an interesting destination because it is technically located in the Southern Nations portion of Ethiopia, but is the northernmost locale in this region.
