HIS STORY

Hernán Zúñiga and family purchased 20 hectares of land in Nanegalito more than four decades ago. Vista Hermosa, or beautiful view in Spanish, was established as a coffee farm in 2012. Hernán and his family set aside 4 hectares, or just shy of 10 aces, dedicated to coffee production.

ON THE MAP

Hernan Zuñiga’s beautiful farm Vista Hermosa is nestled in the Pichincha province of Ecuador.

THE FARM

Red and yellow caturra fruit is picked between the months of July and October. Each tree is quite young at five to six years old. Coffee fruit is depulped, fermented and dried on the farm and meticulously managed by Hernán. Before parchment coffee is sent to Quito to be dry milled, parchment is dried on African style raised beds. Tools to measure coffee humidity are used to determine the appropriate dryness. The work of Hernán, his family and the team is arduous. Their passion shines through the complexities of their coffees year after year.
