THEIR STORY

Since coffee came into Mexico, Veracruz has been recognized as one of the best coffee producing regions with some of the highest quality beans and production processes. We get to know this group looking for an 82pts coffee for our espresso blends and find out that they have some +86 beautiful ones too. Liova Sandoval’s microlot, Zacatlami from Huatusco, is a honey processed Yellow Caturra with a clean and pleasant cup. Resounding notes of chocolate, raspberry and stone fruits make this a quintessential Mexican coffee.

ON THE MAP

Zacatlami is located in Huatusco, Veracruz, Mexico in the Southeastern part of the country. The microlots from this part of the country are hidden treasures because of the microclimate and elevations.

THE FARM

The farm, known as Zacataml, is owned by Liova Sandoval, but the production is managed by her son-in-law, Javier de Bernardi. They also manage a co-operative, Mamés Neekuun, organized sons and grandsons in order to process and distribute quality coffees from all over the region. They keep experimenting with the processing, bringing extraordinary single origin microlots, which have made it to the National Cup of Excellence in recent years.
