Coffee from the Coko washing station in Rwanda is from an unusually high altitude of more than 1,800 meters above sea level. The elevation brings out slowly ripened, juicy beans that have both a typically Rwandan black tea-like finish and sweet taste notes of ripe citrus.

Tasting Notes: blood orange, cocoa, brown sugar

Kula Project’s work is centered in Rwanda. After the devastating 1994 genocide, Rwanda began rebuilding itself and its people from the ground up. Now we are proud to say that although most people know Rwanda as a country that has a genocide, we know it as a country that overcame one. Even though Rwanda leads Africa in every development statistic, there is still much work to be done, and even more hope for what’s to come.
